Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are tokens deployed on a blockchain with a unique ID that can’t be replicated. A non-fungible token is any token that can’t be replaced by an identical one. $1 bills are fungible as every $1 bill is the same and can be interchanged. Since NFTs are non-fungible, each has a unique ID and can’t be interchanged with an identical token.
Ethereum NFTs are ERC-721 while its fungible tokens are ERC-20. They can be stored in supported wallets such as MetaMask.

The Axie Infinity game gives users access to gameplay items like Lands, Axies, Items, and Bundles all of which are available for sale as NFTs on the Axie Infinity marketplace.

10,000 unique NFTs were deployed on the Ethereum Blockchain by Larvalabs in mid-2017, they were known as the CryptoPunks. However, these NFTs didn’t gain enough popularity until around 2020 when the NFT hype was becoming loud. CryptoPunk is one of the earliest NFTs and it definitely paved way for the others with its success. The CryptoPunk is one of the most expensive NFTs ever sold as one of them sold for a whopping $23.7m!
The CryptoPunk NFTs have an all-time sales volume of $2,287,715,152 with 3,500 owners. Yuga Labs eventually acquired CryptoPunks from Larvalabs and gave the commercial rights to the CryptoPunk community.
Just like CryptoPunks, BAYC is a collection of 10,000 NFTs deployed on the Ethereum Blockchain. They are programmatically generated from over 170 possible traits.
Bored Ape NFT holders have exclusive access to the BAYC discord where they can hang out and chat. They also have access to The Bathroom, a section on the BAYC website that only Bored Ape holders have access to. Other benefits holders have enjoyed are airdrops and access to other bluechip NFTs.

MAYC is a collection of 20,000 unique NFTs derived from BAYC. Holders of Bored Ape NFT can use a special Mutant Serum NFT asset to create a Mutant variant of their Bored Ape NFT. Owning a Mutant Ape also allows you access to the Bored Ape Yacht Club. MAYC is more like an extension of BAYC to allow more members access to the club and expand the community.

Art Blocks is another NFT that did numbers in the crypto space. Art Blocks is a set of generative art NFTs deployed on the Ethereum Blockchain and trades on OpenSea.
In August 2021, a piece of Art Blocks NFT (Ringers #879) sold for $5.8m making it the most expensive Art Block NFT ever sold. Other Art Blocks NFTs also followed suit and sold for large sums making up a total all-time sales volume of the Art Blocks $1,267,820,258, closely behind the MAYC.
The NBA partnered with the creators of CryptoKitties to create an NFT marketplace where sports fans can buy or sell NBA and WNBA plays or players. Most of these NFTs are very affordable (think of them like fan tokens).

Otherdeed is a collection of 100,000 unique NFTs with 34,300 owners currently on OpenSea. It was airdropped to holders of Bored Apes and Mutant Apes. Otherdeed enables holders to claim a plot of land on the Otherside when it launches.
Another 100,000 Otherdeed will be minted and exclusively rewarded to ‘voyagers’ who hold their Otherdeeds and contributed to the development of the Otherside.
Since its launch, Otherdeed has been able to hit an all-time sales volume of $975,091,552 with the current floor price being 2.5ETH.
Conclusion
