Popular Senegalese-American singer and Blockchain entrepreneur, Akon, has announced that he would be joining a 2-day virtual meeting on the 18th of June, 2020 as he plans to make major announcements about his cryptocurrency, its roadmap and operations.

He recently launched his own Cryptocurrency—called the Akoin— in the 4th quarter of 2019. This digital currency was created to serve as a utility token for the “Akon City”, a prospective sustainable and eco-tourism smart city in Senegal, Africa.
The digital currency’s site describes Akoin as “a cryptocurrency-powered by a marketplace of tools and services fueling the dreams of entrepreneurs, business owners, and social activists as they connect and engage across the rising economies of Africa and beyond”.
The Akoin token will provide a trusted currency alternative that enables entrepreneurs to build and grow their business. Similarly, plans are in the works for the creation of an Akoin marketplace, which is aimed at being the market leader for DApp/App-based services in lean economies. The token will run on proprietary technologies which allow users to seamlessly exchange cryptocurrencies, prepaid minutes, and fiat currencies.
