Computers are a great utility. They have largely made our lives easier. However, a drawback most computer systems often have is that they are dependent on their fleshy human operators. With Artificial intelligence(AI) appearing on the scene, this narrative is set to change. Basically, AI would enable systems to learn and adapt; much like how our brains work. As a result, more humans would be pulled out of their positions as reverred operators. As such, here are 5 fields AI is set to dominate, in subsequent years.
1. Publishing and News Media
Writing has always been a human skill which requires strong dexterity and a sound imagination to pull off. Well, until the emergence of AI. AI is making big waves in the realm of writing and publishing. Certain AI powered systems are able to selectively post articles on platforms such as Facebook, in ways that optimize traffic and engagement by analysis of large pools of data containing current trends and previous successes.
AI has also shown creative prowess through the creation of fictional stories. This advancement in the technology field, became more pronounced by the landmark near win of a story co-written by a Japanese AI in 2016.
Autonomous transportation could be another field where AI would dominate. Certain autonomous features currently exist for road vehicles. One of such features is self parking. However, in the future, the transport systems of entire cities could be automated such that a single system controls the flow of traffic. This means, getting from point A to B would be (hopefully) hitch free and have a level of safety we can only currently dream of. Taking these features into account, AI evidently holds huge potentials of being better than our best human drivers.
Certain AI systems which function as clinical decision support systems and aid in the diagnosis of various ailments, currently exist today. Some systems are even able to support health care providers in administering treatment to patients.
Algorithmic trading is one of the applications of AI in the finance and trading sector. Algorithms which can do the selling and buying of stocks, and even make trading decisions, also exist. They are able to predict market trends and take decisions based on those trends.
AI powered systems could soon bring the much needed flexibility to educational systems. Simply put, AI could assist students who have anxiety in human learning environments by using specific teaching methods tailored to their specific personalities and preferences and needs.
So, there you have it. A scratch on the surface of potential applications of Artificial Intelligence. This list is (obviously) by no means exhaustive. The future is here.
